Ian Haydn Smith is the author of The Chronology of Film, The Short Story of Photography, Selling the Movie: The History of the Movie Poster and Well Documented, a history of documentary film. Previously the editor of the International Film Guide and Curzon Magazine, he is now the editor of publications for BFI Southbank and works with a variety of festivals, including the BFI London Film Festival and Flare, the Rotterdam International Film Festival and Sheffield DocFest.
