Lefteris S. Eleftheriou is the Chairman of the Cyprus Film Commission and a Certified Film Commissioner. For over thirteen years, he has been actively promoting Cyprus as an attractive destination in key economic sectors. In 2013, Lefteris played a pivotal role in a team tasked with developing a strategy for Cyprus's film industry. After significant efforts, the Council of Ministers adopted the Cyprus Film Scheme in 2017. Lefteris oversees the assessment of applications for the Scheme and leads the national effort to promote Cyprus as a premier film destination, highlighting its stunning landscapes, favorable tax incentives, and skilled workforce.
As of March 2024, Lefteris is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy Awards) and an active member of the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI). He also served as a board member of the EUFCN
Lefteris holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Hunter College, New York, and a master’s degree in Politics from New York University. He has also undertaken legal studies at the University of London and courses in political theory. He views his educational journey as a valuable foundation that continues to guide his contributions to cultural and creative industries.
