About the Speaker
Screen Star of Tomorrow 2015, Ben Aston is a filmmaker whose work has been described as &lsquohilarious, heart-warming and terrifying.&rsquo His short film HE TOOK HIS SKIN OFF FOR ME premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and has gone on to be viewed over 10 million times across the internet. His comedy short RUSSIAN ROULETTE won the Jury Prize at Sundance London and went on to compete at Sundance and dozens of additional festivals, eventually premiering through The New Yorker. He has worked with Film4, Netflix and XYZ Films on his feature slate and is currently in development on an original series for The Ink Factory. He lives in London with his partner Maria and his tiny, adorable dog.

AI in Film: A New Creative Dialogue
As members of the creative community we all have strong views about AI, and what it means for us as storytellers, creators, craftspeople and producers.
As part of its ongoing mission to support and futureproof the capital’s filmmaking ecosystem, Film London, in partnership with Fondation Liban Cinema, sought to examine how AI might assist creatives at different stages of the filmmaking process.
AI In Film: A New Creative Dialogue was the result: a pioneering project that saw two teams of UK-Lebanese filmmakers exploring the applications – and limitations – of different AI tools as they crafted new short films.
Led by Jordan McGarry, Film London’s Head of Talent Development & Production, this lively and insightful session will explore the initiative’s preliminary findings, interrogating the benefits, limits, myths, risks, ethics and complexities surrounding this rapidly-evolving technology, and discussing how the landscape has shifted in the short time since the project’s inception.
