Cheryl Conway joined Screen Scotland as Head of Screen Commission in 2023 from Sydney, Australia. She is a seasoned industry executive and film commissioner, having been involved in attracting and supporting large-scale international productions since 2004.
Cheryl leads an experienced team that offers a confidential locations and production service to ensure that productions make the most of what Scotland has to offer filmmakers. Working with a network of regional film offices across Scotland, as well as major landowners and infrastructure organisations, the Screen Commission is the first point of contact for all matters relating to filming in Scotland, including advice on Scotland&rsquos incentives and funding programs, locations, crew, contacts, and production and post-production facilities. The Commission can also provide up-to-date information on studios and build spaces, as well as practical support for recces and budget conversions through the Screen Commission&rsquos Recce Fund. Recognising that the success of any production centre relies on the strength of all aspects of the production and post-production sectors, Cheryl also works to actively support the post/VFX/animation sectors in Scotland.
The Screen Commission sits within Screen Scotland, the national organisation responsible for driving the development of Scotland's film and television sector through funding, strategic support, and advocacy. Its role includes development and production support, skills and training, education, and talent and audience development.
