VARAŽDIN FILM COMMISSION is managed by the public institution People’s Open University Varaždin which is acting in the domain of lifelong learning and audiovisual activities by hosting a city cinema.

VFC is primarily responsible for promotion of filming locations in the City of Varaždin and the Varaždin County and for providing logistic assistance to production companies.

Its scope of work encompasses also:

• finding filming locations
• connecting production companies with relevant public and private stakeholders
• providing relevant organizational and other logistic information in order to facilitate production projects and campaigns
• communicating with general public, SMEs, public bodies and institutions in order to find best possible solutions for filming projects
• hosting of location managers
• attending national and international events related to the filming industry
• organising education and events related to the filming industry

VFC tends to promote locations in the Varaždin County with Varaždin as the capital city which is located in the Nort-West part of Croatia, on the border with Slovenia and Hungary and only 50 km away from the Austrian border. The City of Varaždin is also close to the Croatian capital Zagreb and the main airport.

The region is known for its beautiful nature (rivers, lakes, mountains and hills, parcs, vinyards etc.), cultural heritage (castles, palaces), and is economically very developed due to lots of SMEs.
