The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority works with local authorities, government, businesses and partners to drive growth and create jobs. Led by Mayor Helen Godwin, we bring together investment and expertise to support the region’s economy, including its creative and cultural industries.
We recently launched Greenlight West, a £4.5 million production fund to increase the quantity, range and scale of film and television productions made here – from the vibrant cities of Bristol and Bath to iconic locations, dramatic coastlines and expansive countryside in surrounding areas.
This offers non-recoupable grants of £50,000–£500,000, supporting incoming productions, regionally based companies and productions undertaking significant post-production locally. Projects must demonstrate meaningful regional benefits through spend, employment, skills development and use of talent and facilities. We’re already an established screen production hub, internationally recognised for animation, natural history, factual and unscripted television, alongside high-end drama and film. Home to Aardman Animations, BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit, The Bottle Yard Studios and a thriving independent production sector, we offer exceptional talent, infrastructure and locations.
Greenlight West, working closely with local film offices, builds on these strengths, attracting ambitious productions, supporting regionally based companies and creating lasting opportunities for local crew, businesses and the wider screen industry.
