Portugal
In 2026, Portugal Film Commission and Historical Villages of Portugal join forces to showcase Portugal at FOCUS. The Portugal Film Commission is a public body dedicated to positioning Portugal as a prime destination for film and audiovisual productions. Its daily work involves promoting the country’s diverse natural, historical, and urban landscapes, as well as highlighting SCRI.PT – our new Audiovisual and Film Industry Funding Programme – and the strength of the Portuguese industry. With a mission to facilitate and support audiovisual productions in Portugal, the Portugal Film Commission provides the essential guidance and assistance international productions need when considering Portugal as a filming destination.
Historical Villages of Portugal, a network of 12 historic villages located across the central region of the country, offers a unique combination of heritage, architecture, landscapes and cultural identity. From medieval castles and stone-built villages to surrounding natural landscapes, the Historical Villages provide a distinctive and diverse setting for film and audiovisual productions. Through their collaboration with the Portugal Film Commission, the network aims to showcase the potential of these locations to international filmmakers and facilitate connections with local stakeholders, contributing to the promotion of the Historical Villages as filming destinations.
